Common Bathrooms problems

What San Antonio homeowners tell us before they call

New tile, same cramped layout

Swapping tile in a poorly laid-out bathroom doesn't fix the problem. A real remodel moves plumbing, opens up the shower, and rebuilds storage where it makes sense.

Waterproofing failures that show up later

Most bathroom callbacks come from cheap waterproofing. Backer board alone is not enough. Schluter-Kerdi behind the tile is what separates a 5-year shower from a 25-year one.

Four separate trades, nobody coordinating

Plumber, tile setter, vanity installer, and glass shop rarely communicate. Design-build keeps them in-house and on one schedule, under one contract.

What we do

Bathroom Remodeling in San Antonio, the design-build way

Last updated: June 24, 2026

We specialize in spacious walk-in showers, layered lighting, and custom storage that solves the cramped-bathroom problem. Layout improvements, plumbing updates, and durable, low-maintenance surfaces come together with waterproofing done right (Schluter-Kerdi, linear drains) and premium fixtures (Kohler, Delta), all selected in our design center.

Bathroom Remodeling detail

What's included in your Bathrooms project

  • Spacious curbless and walk-in showers
  • Layout improvements and plumbing updates
  • Custom storage and floating vanities
  • Layered lighting design
  • Durable, low-maintenance surfaces
  • Schluter-Kerdi waterproofing and linear drains

A bathroom remodel that solves the problem, not just the finishes

Most San Antonio bathrooms have two problems: bad layout and bad waterproofing. New tile won’t fix either one. A real bath remodel rearranges the plumbing, opens up the shower, fixes the storage, and waterproofs the wet areas to last 20+ years.

Walk-in showers we actually build

Curbless and walk-in showers are our most-requested upgrade. They require:

  • A recessed shower pan sloped to a linear drain
  • Schluter-Kerdi waterproofing behind the tile
  • Frameless glass enclosures sized to the opening
  • Layered lighting so the space reads bright, not cave-like
  • Thermostatic valves (Kohler or Delta) for safe, consistent temperature

Done right, the shower drains cleanly, doesn’t leak into the slab, and looks like the centerpiece it should be.

Storage and vanity work that doesn’t get neglected

A floating vanity with full-extension drawers, soft-close hardware, and the outlets routed inside the cabinet does more for daily life than any tile choice. We design the vanity to your actual stuff — towel storage, hairdryer, makeup drawer with USB power — not a generic top-and-doors box.

The waterproofing detail that matters

Every shower we build uses Schluter-Kerdi (or Redgard on smaller jobs) with proper linear drains and waterproofed curbs. We document the waterproofing layer before tile goes in. This is what separates a 5-year shower from a 25-year shower, and it’s where most cheap bath remodels eventually fail.

Why homeowners pick us

Same process. Same crew. Same fixed price.

Waterproofing done right, not done fast

We use Schluter-Kerdi or equivalent waterproofing on every shower, with linear drains where appropriate. Most callbacks in bath remodeling come from cheap waterproofing — we don't ship that work.

Layout fixes, not just finish swaps

Cramped bathrooms usually have a layout problem, not a finish problem. We move plumbing, reconfigure walls, and rebuild the storage so the room actually works.

Luxury that lasts

Premium tile, porcelain slabs, Kohler and Delta thermostatic valves, and floating vanities with full-extension storage. Materials are picked in our design center, not from a brochure.

FAQ

Common Bathroom Remodeling Questions

Common questions about our design-build remodeling process.

How much does a bathroom remodel cost in San Antonio?
Most full bath remodels run $15,000–$45,000. Guest baths and powder rooms can land at the lower end; primary suites with custom showers, freestanding tubs, and double vanities push higher. Your free estimate locks the number.
How long does a bathroom remodel take?
Three to five weeks of construction is typical, plus 3–4 weeks of pre-construction design and selections. We try to keep at least one bathroom usable in your home throughout the project.
Can you build a curbless walk-in shower?
Yes. Curbless (zero-threshold) showers require a recessed shower pan, linear drain, and careful waterproofing. We build them regularly, both for aesthetic preference and for aging-in-place needs.
Do you handle plumbing reroutes?
Yes — moving the toilet, relocating a vanity, or repositioning the shower drain is part of our in-house scope. We handle the rough-in, inspections, and finish plumbing under one contract.
What waterproofing system do you use?
Schluter-Kerdi is our standard, with Redgard as an alternative on smaller jobs. We do not use plain backer board or thinset alone for shower waterproofing.
