Common Kitchens problems

What San Antonio homeowners tell us before they call

Layouts that fight you every day

Closed-off kitchens, tight work triangles, and no island space make cooking miserable. Wall removal is often the real fix — not just new cabinets.

Change orders that blow the budget

Most kitchen cost overruns start with material selections made too late. We lock every finish and its price before saws start — no surprises.

Five contractors, zero coordination

Managing a cabinet shop, tile setter, plumber, electrician, and general contractor separately is a part-time job. Design-build puts them all under one contract.

What we do

Kitchen Remodeling in San Antonio, the design-build way

Last updated: June 24, 2026

Our design-build kitchen remodels reengineer your layout and work triangle, add custom islands and storage, and finish with premium countertops (Pentalquartz, Vicostone) and high-end hardware (Brizo, Delta, Kohler). Structural wall removal, custom cabinetry, and tile backsplashes are handled by one in-house team, selected and priced in our design center before construction begins.

A kitchen remodel that actually fixes the layout

The biggest difference between a quick refresh and a real kitchen remodel is whether the layout still works after the new finishes are in. Open kitchens, better work triangles, generous storage, and a real island — these are layout decisions, not just material choices.

We start by understanding how you actually cook and entertain. Then we look at the floor plan honestly: which walls can come down, where the load-bearing structure is, where appliances should live to keep the work triangle tight, and how to gain pantry and island storage without crowding circulation.

The structural work most kitchens need

About 70% of the kitchens we remodel involve some structural change — usually removing a partial or full wall between the kitchen and the dining or living space. That work requires:

  • Structural assessment of the wall (load-bearing or not)
  • LVL beam sizing by a structural engineer
  • Permits through San Antonio Development Services
  • Clean reframe and trim so the finished ceiling looks intentional

We handle every step. You don’t manage the engineer, the framer, or the permit office.

Custom cabinets, real countertops, premium hardware

Stock cabinets are fine for a quick flip. They’re not what we do. Our kitchens are built around custom millwork — shaker, slab, raised-panel, or full inset — in your choice of paint or stain, with the storage actually engineered to your stuff.

Countertops are premium quartz (Pentalquartz, Vicostone), granite, or natural stone. Faucets and hardware are typically Brizo, Delta, or Kohler — selected at our design center where you can see the finish in real light.

What you’ll walk through in the design center

In one visit you’ll touch and decide on:

  • Cabinet door style, species, and finish
  • Countertop material and slab
  • Island configuration and seating
  • Backsplash tile and pattern
  • Faucet, sink, and disposal package
  • Knob and pull selections
  • Lighting plan (under-cabinet, pendant, can)
  • Flooring transitions

By the end of the visit, your fixed bid is locked. From there, you don’t think about money again until the final walkthrough.

Why homeowners pick us

Same process. Same crew. Same fixed price.

We engineer the layout, not just refinish it

Most remodelers swap cabinets and finishes. We rework the work triangle, remove load-bearing walls with LVL beams, and make the room actually flow.

Selections happen in our design center, not on Pinterest

You touch the real cabinet door, the real countertop slab, and the real hardware finish. Price is itemized as you choose.

One contract from demo through final walkthrough

Custom millwork, electrical, plumbing, tile, and finish carpentry are all in-house. There's no subcontractor blame loop.

FAQ

Common Kitchen Remodeling Questions

Common questions about our design-build remodeling process.

How much does a kitchen remodel cost in San Antonio?
Most kitchens land between $25,000 and $90,000 depending on whether we're keeping the layout or restructuring it, the cabinet tier, and countertop material. Your free in-home estimate gives you a realistic ballpark within 48 hours.
How long does a kitchen remodel take?
A pull-and-replace kitchen typically runs 6–10 weeks of construction. A structural kitchen (wall removal, full reconfiguration) takes 10–14 weeks. Pre-construction design and selections add about 4–6 weeks.
Can you remove a load-bearing wall to open up the kitchen?
Yes. We handle the structural engineering, LVL beam sizing, permitting, and the post-removal trim and finish. Most of our open-concept kitchens involve a load-bearing wall.
Do you offer custom cabinetry?
Yes — custom millwork is a core specialty. Shaker, slab, raised-panel, and full inset doors in any species, paint, or stain. Custom islands and built-in storage are part of nearly every project.
What countertop brands do you work with?
Pentalquartz and Vicostone for quartz, plus premium granite and natural stone partners. You select the exact slab in our design center.
