Common Whole-Home problems

What San Antonio homeowners tell us before they call

A home that never quite flows right

Compartmentalized 1970s and 1980s floor plans don't work for modern family life. Fixing them requires structural changes, not just new finishes.

Living on a construction site for months

A whole-home remodel without smart sequencing is chaos. We plan which rooms to complete first so you can stay in the home as long as possible.

Budget creep from a loose scope

Gut renovations without a fixed-price contract invite change orders at every turn. Our design-center model locks the budget before demo day.

What we do

Whole-Home Remodeling in San Antonio, the design-build way

Last updated: June 24, 2026

A whole-home remodel touches everything: layout, systems, structure, and finishes. Our design-build model is built for the scale. A single point of contact sequences the project to keep you livable where possible, manages structural changes, and holds the fixed budget set in the design center.

What's included in your Whole-Home project

  • Top-to-bottom scope across every room
  • Electrical, plumbing, and HVAC updates
  • Structural changes and reconfiguration
  • Livable-during-construction sequencing
  • Single accountable project team
  • One fixed bid for the entire project

Whole-home, one team, one fixed price

A whole-home remodel is the project that exposes how most contractors actually work. Coordinating ten subs, twelve selections, and three change orders per week is where the model breaks. Our design-build model was built for this scale of work.

What’s actually inside a whole-home remodel

  • Layout and structural work — wall removal, ceiling height changes, foundation repair
  • Systems update — electrical panel, full rewire if needed, plumbing risers, HVAC, insulation
  • Kitchen and bath remodel — usually all of them at once
  • Flooring throughout — tile, LVP, or wood, with proper transitions
  • Doors, trim, and millwork — replaced or refinished to a consistent style
  • Exterior — windows, siding/stucco repair, paint, often roofing

Pre-construction is half the work

For a whole-home project, the design and selection phase typically runs 8–12 weeks. We need this time to engineer the structural changes, finalize the floor plan, walk you through every selection at our design center, and price the project to a real fixed bid. Trying to compress this phase is the single biggest cause of cost overruns on whole-home remodels.

Living through construction

Some whole-home remodels can be phased — we keep the kitchen and one bath functional while we work on the other side of the house. Others require you to relocate. We tell you which one you’re looking at honestly, before you sign.

Why homeowners pick us

Same process. Same crew. Same fixed price.

We sequence it so you can stay home

Where possible, we phase a whole-home remodel so you keep one functional kitchen and one functional bath at all times. When you can't stay, we say so up front.

Systems updates done together, not piecemeal

Electrical panel, plumbing risers, HVAC, and insulation — all addressed together while the walls are open. You don't pay for the same drywall work twice.

One contract, one team, one schedule

Whole-home remodels with multiple subs and contracts are where homeowners get burned. Our model puts every trade under one team — the project doesn't stall because somebody won't show up.

FAQ

Common Whole-Home Remodeling Questions

Common questions about our design-build remodeling process.

What counts as a whole-home remodel?
Any project that touches most or all of the rooms — typically kitchen, primary bath, multiple secondary baths, flooring throughout, and often structural reconfiguration. Many also include exterior work and additions.
How much does a whole-home remodel cost?
Most whole-home projects start at $80,000 and climb to $120,000+ depending on square footage, structural work, and finish tier. Gut renovations and additions push the upper end.
Can we live in the house during the remodel?
Sometimes — it depends on scope. We phase the work to keep a kitchen and bath usable where possible. For full gut renovations, you'll need to relocate for at least part of the project.
How long does it take?
Whole-home remodels typically run 5–9 months: 2–3 months of pre-construction (design, structural engineering, permitting, selections) and 4–6 months of construction.
Do you handle structural engineering?
Yes. Whole-home remodels almost always involve wall removal, foundation work, or framing reinforcement. We coordinate with our structural engineer and own the engineering deliverables.
